Recovery

Emily has been in recovery for three hours now after a 7 hour surgery. She is doing great and I have just been admiring her fingers in disbelief (they are a beautiful PINK.) Her oxygen saturation is 98!!

This is just amazing.

I did not sleep last night and will go home around noon for some rest.

Thank you for all your love and support. I felt it all the way out here in Utah.

Love, Pete

Yea!
I can't stop smiling!
I glanced at someone's newspaper this morning and I am almost certain I saw the headline: All Rejoice: Emily has a new Heart!
How blessed we all are.
Good luck.

This may be the first time that pink fingers brought tears to my eyes, but they sure did in your message, Pete! What an amazing, wonderful world we live in that this miracle could actually occur. And who could be more deserving of such a miracle than your/our Emily?!! Onward. Upward. Fabulous.

Dear Emily. Dear Pete.
Alex has been keeping me updated and my thoughts and prayers have been with you for the past weeks. This is the most wonderful news and words can not express how thrilled I am for all of you.
I am going to Venice tomorrow with Alex's mom, and Linda and I will light a candle for you at San Marco with the Madonna Nicopedia - a byzantine miracle working image of the Virgin. While you do not need a miracle, it is always good to have her on your side! We'll pray for a speedy recovery, protection from all harm (one of her strengths!) and continued strength as you venture forward.
Sending you loads of love.

Emily & Pete,

I just got the word from BLMers in Utah! I'm sad to hear of your serious condition but happy to hear that you have a new heart! Please email (bigdewy@yahoo.com) snail mail and I'll get some cash headed your way. With those two good looking boys, you'll need all the energy you can get!

Pete, Emily, Mason and Liam we love you and are stunned that this happened so fast. We still haven't come to grips with the fact that you needed a heart transplant. We are thrilled that it was a success and can't wait to see you. We are at the ready for any help needed. Mason and Liam are always welcome if you need to drop them while at the hospital. The Thomas train set is ready to go. All of our love: Steve, Kristan, Hayden and Lily.
